💆🏽 Time for some mid-week indulgence!

IT'S BEEN A ROUGH TWO DAYS. YOU'VE EARNED IT!

Happy National Self-Care Day! Why the powers that be who govern placement of nonsense occasions elected to place Self-Care Day in the middle of the work week is beyond me, but the good news is that it intersects with other occasions that could plausibly entail self-care.

How so? Well, today also happens to be both National Deep Dish Pizza Day AND National Caramel Day! I don't know about you, but eating either/both of those glorious culinary inventions certainly makes me feel cared for.
For good measure, work off some of those calories by frolicking in a field of dandelions, as today is ALSO National Dandelion Day!
Finally, if you're celebrating Passover this evening and over the next several days, Chag Pesach Sameach! And if you're observing Ramadan this month, Ramadan Mubarak!

I'm not a cult guy, but if I were, this is the only cult I'm interested in joining (presence of pineapple notwithstanding; I'll eat around it).

Want a few famous April 5th birthdays and historical facts before we get to this week's amusing links? Of course you do!
• On this day in 1792 George Washington exercised Presidential veto authority for the first time in US history.
• Happy birthday to educator, essayist, and historian Booker T. Washington, born this day in 1856
• Sticking with the Washington theme, two years later in 1858 Canadian businessman Washington Atlee Burpee founded Burpee Seeds, which for my entire childhood seemed like the only purveyor of vegetable and flower seeds in the world
• Professional handsome person Gregory Peck was born this day in 1916. In addition to being a renowned actor during the Golden Age of Hollywood Mr. Peck was also politically active, frequently challenging the House Un-American Activities Committee at the height of the Red Scare and regarded as a "political opponent" by President Richard Nixon. Talk about a badge of honor!
• On this day in 1926 cult film director, producer, and actor Roger Corman was born. His entire filmography should be celebrated, but if I had to whittle it down, I would encourage the uninitiated to check out Death Race 2000, Rock 'n' Roll High School, Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet, The Dunwich Horror, Masque of the Red Death, and assorted SyFy original gems like Dinocroc vs. Supergator and Piranhaconda. The man is a damn legend.
• Have a slice of cake in honor of former US Secretary of State General (Ret.) Colin Powell, born this day in 1937
• Musicians Mike McCready of Pearl Jam fame (1966), Paula Cole (1968), and Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes (1973) were all born on this day.
Pour one out for:
• American pilot, engineer, director, and urine collector Howard Hughes, who filled his last jar on this day in 1976
• Singer-songwriter Kurt Cobain, who peaced out on this day in 1994
