Maybe it's that creepy book Shel Silverstein wrote, The Giving Tree, wherein the passive-aggressive doormat of a tree sulked as a self-absorbed boy destroyed it. My mother told me that story was a allegory for parenthood, and strangely I never had any children of my own. I wonder why...

It's National Lost Sock Memorial Day! I have no real concern for misplaced socks because years ago I started buying identical socks so losing a single sock would never be noticed. A handy life hack if you also don't care much about socks.
