Loving that brisk autumn breeze? 🍂

DON'T GET TOO ATTACHED

Happy National Recycling Day! Will recycling in and of itself solve climate change? Nope! But it's an important part of the multi-pronged effort required to effect real change, and it's a pretty low-effort activity for us all to engage in that also allows you to feel smug toward the litterbugs of the world.

Taylor Swift smug hair flip

T-Swift definitely recycles, and probably feels smug AF about it. I know I do!

OK, birthday time! Let's eat some sustainable cake in honor of:

• Modernist painter Georgia O'Keefe, born this day in 1887! Ms O'Keefe's paintings of enlarged flowers may be her calling card now, but she was also fond of painting New York City's skyscrapers and New Mexico's natural beauty.

• Professional wrestling icon "Macho Man" Randy Savage, born this day in 1952! Born Randy Mario Poffo, Mr. Savage's first athletic love was baseball — he was drafter by the St. Louis Cardinals out of high school as a catcher and played in the minor leagues for St. Louis and the Cincinnati Reds for four seasons before switching to the pro wrestling circuit in 1974. Oooh yeah!

• Actress Beverly D'Angelo, born this day in 1951! Ms D'Angelo has had an impressive career spanning five decades and appearing in over 60 films, but is probably best known for her portrayal of Ellen Griswold in the National Lampoon's Family Vacation series.

OK! No new Boredwalk Community Q&A this week due to lack of volunteers. I guess no one wants to be the star of this little show! If you want to be briefly quasi-famous, reply to this and let me know and I'll send you some questions!

We'll be back in your inbox on Wednesday morning with links to fun distractions! If you're in a shopping mood, be sure to use the code YAY10 at checkout to save 10% on orders of $100 or more! Until next time...

Peace, love, and recycling,

Matt
