Today I'm salty about... 🥨
NATIONAL PRETZEL DAY 😋
Did you know that pretzels are believed to be the world's oldest snack, with existence dating back to 610 CE in Southern France? True story! What I appreciate most about pretzels is that they're the perfect conduit for mustard.
Today is also "No Make Up Day," an occasion I celebrate regularly, mostly because I cannot be bothered to put on make up very often. What's the point? Get out of bed earlier and miss out on precious moments of doom scrolling? I think not! Plus I'd only have to take it off later, yet another chore that would only get in the way of doing other things that are bad for me that I seem to prefer.
Lastly, today is World Intellectual Property Day, a topic I am passionate about since all of us here at Boredwalk depend on intellectual property to pay our bills. The US loses hundreds of billions of dollars a year to intellectual property theft, a problem our incompetent government seems determined to do absolutely nothing about.
I can only imagine the eye-watering amount of money I personally lose each year to people stealing art from our website, but hey, it's Wednesday and this email is supposed to help us get over the hump, not under a pile of pretzel crumb covered blankets and crushing despair. That's for tomorrow! Let's ignore problems for today and feast on carbs and set our eyeliner on fire — beauty is a social construct!
Don't worry, George, we're gonna wash 'em down with some historical facts and amusing links!
