šŸ¤” Your guess is as good as mine...

NATIONAL TAKE A WILD GUESS DAY? BUT FOR ME THAT'S EVERY DAY!

Today's nonsensical holiday invites us to guess at things ā€” jellybeans in a jar, red or black on the roulette wheel, etc.

I could stand a life with a little less wild guessing, since that's what I spend most days doing. Will the ad work? Will our audience appreciate this new product? Will this new hire pan out? Will I fail miserably and completely at running Boredwalk and end up living in a cardboard box under anĀ overpass? My mental magic 8 ball is exhausted.

Before we get to a bit of April 15th history/birthday celebration I did want to take a moment to give a shout out to our newest team member, Jessika!

Jessika will be spearheading ourĀ ambassador program, so if you are a Boredwalk ambassador you may hear from her in the next few days (or may have already). You may see messages from her on our alternate domain iloveboredwalk.com, but rest assured these are legit messages from Boredwalk HQ.

Now onto a few April 15th occasions:

ā€¢Ā Actress Elizabeth MontgomeryĀ was born on this day in 1933!Ā No doubt you know her better as everyone's favorite mid-century sorceress Samantha Stephens onĀ Bewitched.

ā€¢Ā Renaissance artist, scientist, and architect Leonardo da VinciĀ was born on this day in 1452. He's famous for a lot of artistic work, but probably best known for painting the Mona Lisa.

ā€¢Ā Actress Emma WatsonĀ was born on this day in 1990. She's probably best known as Hermione Granger in theĀ Harry PotterĀ film series, but I also enjoyed her work in the film adaptation ofĀ The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

ā€¢Ā Actress Emma ThompsonĀ was born on this day in 1959. She's appeared in dozens of films over the years, including alongside birthday twin Emma Watson inĀ Harry PotterĀ films. SoĀ many Emmas!

ā€¢Ā Actor, comedian, and filmmaker Seth RogenĀ was born on this day in 1982. Rogen is one of my favorite actors and has appeared in several hit films, includingĀ The 40-Year-Old Virgin,Ā Ā Superbad, andĀ Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

My baseball adoring husband/Boredwalk co-founder, Matt, would be disappointed if I didn't mention that it was on this day in 1947 thatĀ Jackie RobinsonĀ became the first African American player in Major League BaseballĀ when he stepped onto Ebbets Field in Brooklyn to compete for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Today is the 75th anniversary of that momentous occasion and will be celebrated around the MLB with all players wearing his number 42 when they take the field today/tonight. MLB retired the number 42 league-wide in 1997, prohibiting players from selecting it from then on, but allowing then-active players already wearing it to continue doing so. This ended in 2013 with the retirement of New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera.

It was also on this day in 1989 that a group ofĀ students initiated a pro-democracy protest on Tiananmen Square in Beijing.Ā The protest grew until June of that year, ultimately resulting in the Chinese government massacring the protesters. The Chinese government hates people bringing this up, so naturally I like to bring it up any chance I get.
