😩 Feeling like it's the Mondayest of Mondays?
It's National Day of Encouragement, a skill I am sorely lacking when it comes to myself. If your year has been anything like mine and you're beating yourself up for it, I encourage you (and me) to go a little easier on yourself. At least that's what my husband/Boredwalk co-founder Matt would say. This is something I find almost impossible to do, so if you have that same tendency, you're not alone.

It's been a real devil of a year, so why not make a little art on the theme? Today happens to be National When Pigs Fly Day, an occasion described as "a day to imagine a future that may seem impossible or absurd and take small steps towards making it happen."

Happy National Acorn Squash Day! Why you'd be excited to celebrate acorn squash on September 7th when it is entirely too hot to turn on the oven to prepare said squash is beyond me, but here we are.

OK, that's not entirely true. In this climate, there will still be some sweat — sorry. But also...Happy Labor Day! If you happen to be working today...I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better (or at least less alone), I'm right there with you.

I know it's still 100 degrees in lots of places, but it is officially September and I know everyone is itching to get into hoodies and sip their pumpkin spice lattes (or sip their my-palate-is-more-refined-than-yours black coffees while derisively mocking those who sip pumpkin spice lattes). You know what else cooler weather is great for? Curling up with a good book!

I have had my fill of being subjected to the personal lives of celebrities, but I will never grow tired of admiring the cosmos. Tonight is Sleep Under the Stars Night and although I'll be busy at a trade show this week, I intend to make up for it this weekend by watching the Perseid meteor shower out in Joshua Tree. If you're not familiar with this annual astronomical event, it takes place every year around August 11-13.
