Please, sir, can we have s'more? 🍫
NATIONAL S'MORES DAY?
YES, PLEASE!
After "celebrating" Clean Your Floors Day last Wednesday, it stands to reason that I'd be a bit peckish. Thankfully, today delivers the goods. Melty chocolate? Gooey mallow? Bone-dry graham cracker? Check, check, check!
Oh please, graham cracker. The only reason society keeps you around is because no one has conceived of a better substrate for s'mores consumption yet.*
*LOL, just kidding — I have. They're called chocolate chip cookies. Your days are numbered, edible cardboard!
Alright, let's touch on some August 10th history before we dive into those sweet links!
• 1519: Ferdinand Magellan's five ships set sail from Seville to circumnavigate the globe, but ol' Ferdy only made it as far as the Philippines before he croaked. His second-in-command Juan Sebastián Elcano would complete the expedition.
• 1793: The Louvre officially opens in Paris, France
• 1821: Missouri is admitted as the 24th US state
• 1846: The Smithsonian Institution is chartered by the US Congress after James Smithson donates $500,000
• 1889: Charles Darrow, creator of the board game Monopoly, is born
• 1909: Leo Fender, of Fender guitar fame, is born
• 1943: Ronnie Spector of early 1960s pop group The Ronettes, is born
Alright, you've waited long enough — on to the links!
1. Better work things out with your girlfriends, cis-het gents...
...because the gays are coming for her.
2. Paper sculpture? Sounds like a great second career...
...for graham crackers once chocolate chip cookies put them out of a job.
3. Comedy person Josh Zilberg pretty much nails not just his own existence, but mine as well.
If anything, I'm aging not like fine wine, but cut-rate vinegar that should only be used for cleaning purposes.
4. The Boredwalk content team gets personal with the denizens of the Venice boardwalk!
Madeleine & Grace had so much fun filming the first Boredwalk On The Boardwalk segment that they went back for a second helping, asking strangers about the worst people they've ever dated, and the worst advice they've ever received. Thrilling!OK! We'll be back here in your inbox on Friday with a very special new release that has been seven months in the making, more nonsense holidays to dissect, more notable birthdays to celebrate, and more witty content in general. Don't miss it! Until next time...
Peace, love, and s'mores,
Matt
